Flower Arranging Finds A Younger Audience

There was a great article in the Sunday New York Times earlier this month about a new wave of DIY floral design enthusiasts, and the boutique studios starting to cater how-to classes to them.

Here’s a bonus photo from the Little Flower School, the studio profiled in the article.  The fellow flower blogger behind the blog Bloom has taken several of their courses.  What a dream!

At the end, they list several local boutique studios offering classes, including locations in Austin, Cambridge, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Portland and San Francisco.

No studios were listed in my home base Los Angeles, so I emailed some of the LA floral designers that I’ve always admired from afar, and sure enough, a few minutes later I had my first positive response: Floral Art LA has been offering floral design classes all Summer, and with the next in August, and continuing through the Holidays.

The classes are $150 each, three for $400, or six for $700.  It sounds like a lot of money, until you consider that you’re walking away with an arrangement worth $125 after each workshop!  You can count on seeing me there on September 16th for “Rose Inspirations”.  Here are some pictures from the last workshop via their Facebook page

For me, this looks like the most fun you can have with your clothes on! ; )

Here is the flyer for the next class – see you there!

Stay tuned as I uncover additional information about workshops in LA and beyond…
