Stairstep Centerpieces

So I love the idea of layering floral containers– I think it adds a lot of interest and is a cool way to make more impact with a relatively small, standard vase arrangement.  But here’s an even cooler twist on it- stair-stepped arrangements wtih multiple rectangular or cube vases.

This first example is from Paula Pryke’s amazing book Decorating with Flowers:

And this lovely arrangement was designed by one of my favorite flower bloggers, Amy of Botanical Brouhaha, in her previous incarnation as full time floral designer for her own Bliss Studios:

hydrangea, lisianthus and peony wedding flowers

These containers are pretty standard, but stacked like this you both make a larger impact with regular vases (the cost of vases increases exponentially with their size and it’s also really difficult and expensive to ship huge containers) and save money on the flowers as each vase isn’t full.  Modern Vase and Gift has some lovely wholesale cube vases perfect for this look, that start at $3 each!
