Gilded Protea by Pollen Floral Art

OK I’ve been interested in painted flowers and botanicals for a bit now (first it was succulents that caught my eye, then poppy pods), but these are my favorites yet!  They’re shimmery, gold dusted protea from Austin’s Pollen Floral Art, and they fit right in accompanied by an almost otherworldly mixture of gardenia, sherbet colored cymbidium orchids, trailing begonia plant, green ruffly ranunculus, fuzzy kalanchoe, and a piece of gold dusted honeycomb (how cool is that?!).

Also check out Brok from Pollen’s excellent blog, Cross Pollination, for more of her designs!

Also wanted to share this shot, just because it’s another cool, not ‘on the nose tropical’ use of Protea – this is from a student who participated in a professional development workshop with Pollen Floral Art- I don’t know if I’ve ever seen peonies and protea together!

botanical brouhaha - Beautiful post, Kate! These arrangements are so interesting…and you’re right…that’s probably the first time I’ve seen peonies with protea!
