Florist’s Favorite – Scabiosa Pods

Today’s Florist’s Favorite is from Calie Rose.  Based in Utah, I first became aware of her because one of my flower loving friends from Sandpipers was talking to her about designing her wedding flowers this Summer.

Before I get on to the Florists Favorite part, I just wanted to post *my* personal favorite of her designs – from a Spring Wedding inspiration shoot (I really must do one of these!) she did for Utah Bride Blog, I love these because they use single pincushion proteas for a pop of bright color and fun in designs that are otherwise not at all tropical, or funky.   These photos are by Heather Bliss:

And now without further ado, Calie’s favorite flower to work with – it’s actually a botanical, and it’s the scabiosa pod.  Here’s what she loves about it:

I love the scabiosa pod for it’s ability to create a unique interest and texture to any bouquet as well as corsages and boutonnieres. It’s the perfect touch to achieve a vintage, organic, whimsical, or rustic feel.

And here are the pods in a bouquet she created – I love them right up against those yellow cymbidiums! This photo is by Michael Lloyd Photography.  Enjoy!

Atlanta Florist - Very nice! I love the blue and orange color combination in that bouquet.
