I was in San Diego for my full time job last weekend, and normally don’t think to mix flower “business” with “business business,” so hadn’t even thought to reach out to the several San Diego florists who I’ve chatted with online and try to arrange a visit. Well the universe seemed to be telling me that was silly, because after asking who arranged the particularly cool flowers I spotted at a party, I was told “a great place called Che Bella, right around the corner.” I’ve posted about Che Bella’s lovely arrangements a few times now (here and here most recently) and the husband and wife business owners Jim and Carla have written me nice notes and comments over the months.
I visited them on a brief work break and got a first hand look at the very good thing they have going- married since they were 19 and living and working together in the same space surrounded by beautiful flowers and a sweet chocolate lab, it’s a total triumph of lifestyle design, and so inspiring!
I didn’t have a nice camera with me (just my blackberry) but the first thing that struck me when I walked in was a curtain made of craspedia balls strung on fishing wire. I’d just been thinking of stringing them, though not in a curtain form but more as individual pom poms to hang off of a bouquet handle treatment. Anyhow, here’s the very cool curtain that greeted me when I walked in the shop:
Well I found out that the curtain was left over from a very cool wedding they did for a couple Megan and Chris (she is apparently an editor at Design Sponge!) a few weeks back. Here is a pic of the curtain in action at the ceremony site, and of the bride’s bouquet. I adore them both!
Jim and Carla it was an honor to meet you!
